Beginner Crochet - Wool Workshop

Learn how to crochet and make several types of stitches as you make this 32"x34" worsted weight blanket in three colors! It's a great size for kids or pets, but can be modified to be as big as you want.


Please note:

  • This class is in person, with limited capacity. Being fully vaccinated for Covid-19 is required, so please be prepared to show your vaccination card. This means it has been at least two weeks since receiving your second Moderna or Pfizer vaccine or your single-dose Johnson & Johnson/Janssen vaccine.

  • So that we can continue providing classes through the shop, we require that class materials are purchased from Wool Workshop.

  • You will need to have your materials ready for the start of the first class, including having your yarn wound (if it doesn't come already wound). If you are ordering your materials through our website, select "Yes, wind it for me!" on the yarn item page and we will be happy to do it for you. If you order your materials ahead of time, we can have them ready and waiting for you at the first class.


Skills You Will Learn:

Crocheting flat and in the round, foundation single crochet, single crochet, half double crochet, and double crochet. You will also learn how to combine these stitches to make the lemon peel stitch and linen stitch.


  • 3 colors of worsted weight yarn, approx 400g/880yds total. (200g of main color, 100g each of 2 contrasting colors)

  • K/6.5mm crochet hook

  • tapestry/darning needle for weaving in ends (can be purchased individually or as a set with a case)

As a crochet alternative to our "Block of the Month" class for knitters, this class will walk novice crocheters through a sequence of skill-building lessons as you crochet an afghan. You'll begin with a foundation single crochet and then work through sections of single crochet, half double crochet, lemon peel stitch, and finally the linen stitch. The border of the afghan will also be worked in linen stitch.


Required Materials: 4 balls of Universal Deluxe Worsted Superwash (2 balls of a main color and 1 ball each of 2 contrasting colors) and a 6.5mm crochet hook.
